Researching other adverts to get ideas for my own advert

This is a spread from NME of 3 artists (The Wombats, The Specials and Brother). As a whole I like Brother advert the most because of the font which really catches my eye because it's interesting in the way that it curls at the end. I think Brother advert seems relaxed and I like the use of the photo of the band because then their audience are introduced to them. I think their advert is effective yet simple at the same time which I really like and is similar to how my artist would be selling themselves to their audience.

Esben and the Witch advert is really eye catching in the way it has used an image which isn't of the artist. I think this is effective because it's creative and links to my target audience's creativity.

The aspect of this advert is the font, which is the only part I can really connect to my target audience. The font is very twirly and bold, and I think it's artsy and my target audience would be drawn in by this aspect.

Again like Beady Eye it's the font of the advert which really catches my eye in thinking that it would attract my target audience. I like the artsy way that the font overlaps and piles on top of each letter and I think this is a really interesting way to grab an audiences eye.

This advert is from Q magazine and I think it's my favourite in thinking about my target audience. I like the use of the illustrated birds and how they vary in size which makes them more visually interesting. I like the white background around the birds which doesn't make the advert overly complicated, and the birds are more effective visually. The birds add that creative/artsy edge which our target audience is drawn too.

  1. Good - very clear identification of elements you are going to use in your own work and you express why.
